When you experience a Qualifying Life Event (QLE), you have an additional opportunity to make changes to your Benefits. You must elect Benefits within 31 days of the Life Event. Changes made due to a QLE will be effective the date of the event and remain in effect through the remainder of the plan year.

QLE's include: Marriage, Divorce (Including new or dissolved domestic partnership), Birth, Adoption, Legal Separation, Loss / Gain of Other Coverage, Dependent Move Into / Out of US, Death of Dependent, Guardianship / Legal Custody of Child, Loss of Medicaid, Medicare Entitlement.
