Our condolences to you for your loss. For absences related to the death of an immediate or extended family member, you may be eligible for time off through our Bereavement Policy. All active Company employees are eligible for benefits under this policy. Manufacturing employees are not included in this policy and have a different policy.

 

Employees are allowed up to five (5) days off with pay in the event of the death of an employee’s immediate family member. Immediate family members are defined as:


Spouse, Domestic/Common-law Partner, Child, Step-Child, Grandchild, Siblings, Step-Siblings, Parent or Guardian, Step-Parent, Grandparents, Domestic/Common-law Partner’s Child, Domestic/Common-law Partner’s Sibling, Domestic/Common-law Partner’s Parents, Domestic/Common-law Partner’s Grandparents, Domestic/Common-law Partner’s Grandchild, Children-in-law (daughter/son), Siblings-in-law (sister/brother), Parents-in-law (mother/father), Grandparents-in-law.

 

Employees are allowed up to three (3) days off with pay in the event of the death of an employee’s extended family member. Extended family members are defined as:

 

Aunt, Uncle, Nephew, Niece, Cousin, Aunt-in-law, Uncle-in-law, Nephew-in-law, Niece-in-law, Domestic/Common-law Partner’s Aunt, Domestic/Common-law Partner’s Uncle, Domestic/Common-law Partner’s Nephew, Domestic/Common-law Partner’s niece.

 

Bereavement leave does not have to be taken consecutively, but must be used within six (6) months of the death of the applicable family member.  

 

With the approval of your manager, you may use PTO for time off if your loved one does not fall into one of the covered categories outlined above.

 

Bereavement Leave is requested the same way you request PTO in LG4Me.
